Managing stress in the workplace: mindfulness meditation

Description
Keeping the balance between self-giving and self-preservation is often a difficult undertaking, leading to exhaustion and even loss of interest in teaching/educating. The mind-body path of meditation will be favored to enhance such emotional hygiene. This contemplative attitude could lead us to more accurately sniff out the limits of the responsibilities of our role in respecting ourselves as individuals, by being more in touch with our own needs, not just in a reasonable way, but through our underlying emotions and bodily feelings.

Objectives

  • Learning to (di-)manage stress through meditation to build resilience
  • Transmit certain anchoring and self-presence techniques in concrete terms to your students
  • Learn to keep your distance without losing your empathy by developing your assertiveness

Contents
Development of the ability to (1) refocus oneself by being intimately and authentically in touch with oneself, while being in direct contact with (and no longer under the influence of) the situation at hand; (2) give free rein to one's thoughts, emotions and sensations (without immediately repressing or expressing them) to paradoxically experience a natural decanting of one's "mental ruckus" and simultaneously an increased ability to "see clearly within oneself"; (3) practise your profession without over-reacting by activating conditioned patterns (attack-flight), but rather by responding to various demands with greater creativity (distance, flexibility and benevolence).

Methodology

Using concrete examples from problematic professional experience :

  •  Time for various mental/emotional management practices:
Mindfulness, deep relaxation, attention stabilization, body scanning, anchoring in the here-and-now, concentrative breathing, open meditation, metacognition, etc.
